I started with the Gaui 330X, never did get it to fly very well.

Start with the transmitter in aircraft mode with default settings.

Unplug all four ESCs and set travel one at a time by plugging each one into the throttle plug on the receiver and do the throttle end points as per instructions but without the Gaui controller.  Four times, once for each ESC.

Use the Gear switch end point to set sensitivity, I think the sweet spot is around 50 I don't remember if it is +50 or -50.  If you set the range from +50 to -50 it will be controllable with gear on or off, just have to experiment on a soft surface.  I could only get one mode to work.  Changing the endpoint changes the sensitivity.

I finally gave up on the Gaui controller and use KKmulticopter black board and Multiwii Paris 4,  Just started using the MiKroKopter.

I was initially intimidated by all the stuff involved with MiKroKpter but decided to give it a try when I seen the new Groupner transmitter which I have on order.

The problem with using heli mode is they have all kinds of mixing going on in the background for swash-plate, tail-roter, ect. that you don't want for a multi-rotor craft. At least in the airplane mode you can dial all the mixing out.

I know this is asking a lot - but can one of you all do a little video showing how to make those settings properly?  The copter Gods will smile upon you.  :-)

I greatly appreciate it.

I will start off of something other than grass - thank you for that tip.

But first, I need a new frame - any suggestions?  What I started with - or are there better frames?

I wouldn't purchase a new frame everytime you crash, if I were you.. I've crashed my Gaui about 20 times and still haven't upgraded/purchased a new frame. It's extremely simple to fix yourself.. Just cut some old credit cards into small little strips and use them to bond the frame back together with a good glue. I promise this isn't the last time you will crash it..

Another thing that I've found EXTREMELY helpful is the Gaui protective rim kit (http://www.quadcopters.co.uk/?PageID=ShowItem&Item=10008&Desc=Gaui%20Protective%20Rim%20Kit.) as well as the Alware elastic landing gear legs (http://www.quadcopters.co.uk/?PageID=ShowItem&Item=101901&Desc=Alware%20Elastic%20Landing%20Gear). They help A LOT!
