Im already doing a HL using the MK FC. I am using an I2C converter with the Castle 50amp ESCs. Was easily able to lift a 16.5lbs payload with it. This is my second bird which I wanted to use as a backup. I may do the I2C converter on this as well. We will see.
hey fredrick why are you flying with ph on anyway. Just fly it in manual mode and if you want to park the heli. then use ph and altitude hold.
I find that sometimes if you have ph on it can fly in wierd patterns/fly aways or yaw when you dont want too! I always have my finger on the switch to turn it off. If you fly near metal objects or power lines could have affect too. just sayin!! make sure you turn off your compass if you do this!!
Ugh... Well guys im not off to a good start with this new setup. I just did some flights this morning and am having all sorts of temp issues and also blew up a capacitor on the copter (I heard it pop right as I was plugging it in before the last flight!) Im glad it didn't go when it was in the air.
BL temps are hitting the high limit of 115*C. It was only 85*F outside for ambient temp. I have heat sinks on the top and bottom of the BLs but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Also the motors themselves are so hot after 3-4 minutes in the air that you can't touch them and you can smell them. I am running on 5s batteries. Motor number 3 is always higher then all the others. I have checked the direction of the motor and the prop and both are correct.
Average Current in hover is 85Amps. Seen peaks of 121amps.
After some looking around I figured out that It was BL1 that failed. I don't see any physical damage to the caps but if powered on it is not detected by the FC and if you look at the error counter it say 128. Also the RED LED is on while all the others are green.
This is my first X8 setup I have built. Any help would be great.
Details of ship: CineStar X8 setup QC3328 motors APC 14x4.7 props top and bottom MK FC 2.2 with upgraded Recoms for 5s Navi and GPS BL2.0 2x 8000mAh 5s Batteries in Parallel
This was carrying a 5dMKII. I had a flat 8 with the same specs before and didn't have this many heating issues. At least not at 85*F ambient. Only when it was over 100*F.
I am going to start a new thread on this since it's a separate issue from my overheating issues im having.
My FC is randomly going back to the default settings. Im not sure why it's doing this which is why Im posting here. I am using the new AH sensor and am running firmware 90h on the FC and 30h on the Navi. Twice now it has gone back to the default settings on power-up. I know this because the blue leds on the copter will start flashing randomly again instead of being solid. Once I go into MKTools every setting is back at default except for the mixer and the channel assignments. The Gyro, AH, Navi, Navi-2, Misc, and Output tabs are all changed back again.
