Recommended budget motors for octo sky jib 8?

I'm upgrading from my Hex to the skyjib8 frame and need to get 8 new motors. I love AXI but don't love the price, I've pored through the internet and all the viable options seem really expensive.
Could not find one short shaft motor that was comparable to the below options-
AXI 2826/12 short shaft x8 (estimated price: $1,200)
KW8 pro short shaft x8 ($1,040)
Plettenberg- couldn't find store that sells online
MK3638 short shaft x8 (estimated price: $850)
If there really isn't a budget option for heavy lift motors, I understand completely and would love to hear your thoughts on which ones I should get.
The set up I'm planning on is skyjib8 frame, 8x motors, AV200 mount+360 pan, and Sony FS700 camera (roughly same size as FS100)
I already have mikrokopter FC/navi/GPS and have been using it on my AD-6 successfully just need to lift more weight now and would love the stability the octo set up offers.

Forgive my tone as I don't mean to be insulting.
Why would you be looking towards a "budget" motor if you are going to be hanging an FS700 (great camera!) underneath?
I think the AXIs would be the bare minimum you would want to go with in this situation.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was thinking the same thing but with every other electronics there's usually off brand items that perform just as good or even better at lower prices. I've experiences this frequently with cameras and computers. I'm simply a newbie coming into the aerial cinematography game
I'm looking for the best performance AND price, probably going to pick the AXI or KW8 because it sounds like there's nothing below that price range without a compromise .

Thanks for the suggestion, they look pretty sweet. I just emailed them to see when it's coming back into stock.

Red, did you have to do any dynamic balancing of the QC motors? I have 2 on my CS 6 that needed to be balanced. I had some wicked vibration until I got that under control. Sure, the CF booms and the vib dampening mount mitigated lots of the vibration but some still did seep through to the cam.
Just curious with your experience as it sounds like you have more than one set of QC motors.

Hey Red,
What payloads/flight times (with what camera) are you getting with the quadropower?

Someone mentioned the KDA36-12XL as a viable option but I really doubt it considering the price...

I would also recommend Tiger mt2820 /830kv. Very powerful motor with good bearings.

The tiger looks pretty sick, I'm guessing that it's not a short shaft and I would have to do some serious tinkering to make it short shaft correct?

There's several MT series motors from tiger, I'm guessing that you're referring to the MT4008?
Also the current motors I have for my hex is the AXI 2814/22... I was told by one person that it wasn't enough horsepower but another person said that using 8x of those should be sufficient even though flight time will be shorter than normal. Your thoughts?

MT4008 are not for heavy lifting. They are not as powerful as even MT2814-770KV which are equivalent for AXi 2814 / 22.
For a flat Okto configuration, if you're not willing to lift more than 5D MK II, Axi2814 or equivalent motors should be enough. Each motors has around 2kg thrust at full gas, which will give you 8 kg lifting at %50 gas (theoritically). I have to calculate the flight times with ecalc.ch , first I need to know the AUW excluding batteries.
For skyJib8, I would go for a motor like 2820 series. Having a little bit more power in the craft always useful. But too much power is something you should avoid. For instance, if you hover with a %40-60 throttle with all your equipment on board, it's good. But if you hover at %20 gas, you will have hard time landing your bird. You can adjust the gas settings, tx expo to solve it but than the efficiency would be low.

@ ovdt, Great info
I'm looking to build a Skyjib lite X4. I see Droidworx recommend the Axi 2820/18 motors that have a KV rating of 670. Do you know how these motors compare to the T-Motor 2820 motors which has a KV of 830.
I also thought I might use 6s, but can only do this with the T-Motor as the Axi is only rated for up to 5s.
Thanks
Craig
